Meeting Clients Where They Are

My name is Lynn and I am one of the employment coaches at Sound Outreach.
Through the Center for Strong Families– a United Way of Pierce County initiative – I work directly for clients who are struggling with finding a path to economic stability due to financial hardships, poor spending decisions, or job dissatisfaction.
Many of the clients coming to Sound Outreach for the first time are unsure of what to expect from the experience or what it means to have a financial counselor or employment coach solely invested in their success. I’m not here to criticize past decisions – I’m here to offer a message of hope:
I’m here to empower you with the tools you might need to make positive decisions for yourself. I am here to make sure you know all the resources available to you in our community that may ease your burden.
The mission at Sound Outreach is to empower Pierce County residents to achieve their financial dreams and to secure personal financial security through an integrated model of coaching and counseling. I support that mission by working one-on-one with a diverse group of clients who find their way to me from referrals and community outreach.
I have the privilege of meeting my clients where they are. I work with them to determine skill levels, industry experience, and education or training needs. From there, we walk hand in hand through assessments to create an individualized career plan. We work together to create a market-ready resume – a confidence-building tool for their job search. During three years I have been with the agency, I have supported single mothers out of homelessness. I have advocated for clients who have lost all hope for gainful employment. I have made hundreds of phone calls to check in on clients, track down job leads, and find resources.
Working with clients as an Employment Coach at Sound Outreach is an honor. I know that I speak for all of our staff when I say the work we do here matters. The lives we touch matter. The results we get matter. The difference we make at Sound Outreach is life-changing and community-building – and there is no place I’d rather be.
