Director of Development

Kirsten Willis

Tacoma has always been home for Kirsten. After attending Gonzaga University, she made her way back to begin a career in fund development. Working with non-profits like United Way, PCAF, Tacoma Community House and the Humane Society allowed her to learn more about the needs in our community. Now with over ten years in fundraising she is very excited to work at Sound Outreach as the Development Director. Her experience and passion to connect with donors and clients will help build a deeper community understanding of the mission of Sound Outreach.

Kirsten has also been a member of the Rotary Club of Tacoma #8 since 2010 and was recognized as the Rotarian of the Year in 2017. In 2011 she was featured as one of the 40 Under Forty by the Business Examiner.

Being raised in the Northwest, Kirsten is a huge fan of the Seahawks, Sounders and Zags basketball. She also enjoys reading and watching John Oliver each week. She lives in Old Town, and you will most likely see Kirsten walking her dog, Fitz, along Ruston Way.

Development Coordinator

Alice Shen

Born in Taiwan, Alice has called many places home—from Ohio, where she spent five years, to Taiwan, and now Washington State. Driven by her passion for helping others, Alice began her career as a therapist, focusing on creating meaningful connections and empowering individuals to build healthier habits. She has always loved working with people, a sentiment that continues to guide her career.  A recent master’s graduate from the University of Washington, Alice is excited to contribute to the community and is looking forward to collaborating with everyone. She later transitioned into the nonprofit sector, where she applied her skills in marketing strategies, donor engagement, and community outreach with organizations.

Outside of work, Alice enjoys staying active, volunteering with animals, and exploring the outdoors. Whether she’s walking her husky, road-tripping with her partner, or cozying up with a good book or TV series(Call out to the true crime and horror fans), Alice thrives on both adventure and quiet moments. She finds peace in nature, often strolling through Ruston or Chambers Bay.

With her friendly and curious nature, Alice is excited to collaborate with a passionate team and make a meaningful impact.
